I spent months working 12 hours sanding floors, and taking wallpaper down with the baby on my back, and others crawling in the playpen. Ha! All was starting to take shape, however there was still a long way to go. The project would require money, effort, and my favorite shopping to furnish this house. My three sons and I looked for treasures hidden going to estate sales in order to help reduce my expenses. The weekly ritual was that we would go through estate sales and garage sales on Thursdays and Saturdays, purchasing a mix of new and old pieces. My next task was to spend the rest of my time painting and sanding out in the driveway. It was a bit like the picture below... This was where my passion for restoring furniture began. Although our house had been equipped, I couldn't quit. I also had a booth at the market to sell things. Then I bought more that I could decide how to use them and outgrew the area. More than 1000 people came to my home over the course of a weekend, to shop for everything on the ground floor. It was here that my business Growing Days was born. My business was not only thriving but I was growing my sweet family too. Being a new mom I was able to find the perfect balance to both start my own business as well as become a great mother. Growing Days seemed like the perfect combination. My precious Nora came into the world in 2013, our 4th child. My business's direction was excellent, however I needed to take some time off. I took a pause from creating furniture for vintage homes, and slowed down my pace in order to stay at home and help my children. It was exactly what I was looking for. After a while, after that, the phone began to ring. People contacted me asking to assist them in decorating their homes and interiors. Most of them came into my residence during my furniture open houses. Once I had a few months I started taking on clients in my own way. Soon I had several accounts and a home remodeling business. If you had told me that my business would be the premise for a DIY Network show, I would probably have been astonished. In fact, I laugh at times when I think of the story.
